We have spent the first week of Lola's little life in a hotel room in Grand Junction, Colorado. It has been a wonderful time to bond with her and get to know her, but we are anxious to get home!
We had our first pediatrician visit on Tuesday after she was born and found out that she is still progressing nicely! (I also made the pediatrician look at Rodney's incision site to be sure it looked ok! It did!) She had gained an ounce and a half back from when we left the hospital the morning before. A nurse from the hospital also visited us on Wednesday to check in and make sure she was ok...still good, still a little jaundiced, but the nurse told us to let her sit in a sunny window for a bit each day and that would help.
Later that morning, we did spend some time sunbathing and also did Lola's nails. I had NO idea that baby's nails grow so fast! She loves being in the sunny window.
Going a little stir crazy, we asked the nurse if it would be ok to take her out. I tried to look that up online, but like everything else, there were just too many opinions to make an informed decision. The nurse gave us the go-ahead--just don't let people touch her, and we were off!
Lola had her first shopping trip! Like any good shopper, she learned to "walk the Target"--which is always relaxing, and she also made a trip to the shoe store and Kohls. And of course, what shopping would be complete without a trip to Sonic? Thank goodness this town has a Sonic!
On Friday, we went to dinner with our friend Tom. It's been so fun to see how excited people get over a new baby! Tom had told me of a friend of his (who we've never met) who was very excited about our story. She told Tom that if we head his way, she just had to hold the baby. Well, we aren't heading Tom's way, so she sent us a gift. A total stranger sent our little Lola a gift! I was so touched! We have really enjoyed the book she gave us, Dr. Seuss's ABC book. It's fun to change the names around too, and Lola seems to like it!
I posted the one week picture yesterday, I've decided that I want to take a picture daily so that we can see her grow and change. I know it's going to happen so fast I won't even see it!
